Labor Inclusion

A beacon for active inclusion

This year marks twenty years of our successful commitment to ensuring that all people can participate actively and independently in all areas of life. Now we are tackling the next milestone. With the Inclusion Lab, we are creating this beacon for an inclusive society, building on our proven experience. This place will realise the full implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities – a model project with international appeal and a lasting impact for an inclusive society is emerging.

What makes Labor Inclusion a world first?

We are currently in the final stages of the planning phase and have developed the construction plans in collaboration with the architectural firm ‘atelierund’. The construction plan was designed according to the following principles:

Right from the architectural planning stage, we focus on the ‘design for all’ concept, which combines not only accessibility but also aesthetics and functionality for everyone. With an open-plan design and great attention to detail, we demonstrate how inclusion can be exemplified in construction. We implement this together with a young and innovative architectural collective.

In this project, we use state-of-the-art technologies such as robotics and artificial intelligence to make inclusion even more accessible and attractive. In this area, we collaborate with leading players in the technology sector, such as ETH Zurich.

Inclusion is not only feasible, it is also fascinatingly simple and usually lies in the details. It is not about living with limitations, but about finding solutions that make inclusion economically and socially successful. Our spaces are designed to make everyone feel comfortable – with or without disabilities. The spaces are not only functional, but also inspiring and attractive.

The Inclusion Lab demonstrates how an inclusive society functions economically and creates genuine added value – in one place, as a living best-practice model. We create jobs for people with and without disabilities in the primary labour market – in sectors with many points of contact with society, such as catering, event management and the hotel industry. We create new jobs and training opportunities for professions that do not yet include people with disabilities, such as cooking.

The Inclusion Laboratory combines inclusion and sustainability. Rainwater harvesting, sustainable heat generation using renewable energies, natural shade, energy-efficient construction and other aspects also make the project an ecological role model.
